Wilcox residents waited all day, in sun and in rain, for Dr. King to appear in front of Antioch Baptist Church
These digital photos were given to me as a gift by the photographer Bob Adelman in 2008. They may not be downloaded, printed or shared except for nonprofit, educational purposes such as this website. This site exists to promote the history of the Wilcox County Civil Rights Movement, including my book on that subject, “This Bright Light of Ours: Stories from the Voting Rights Movement” published by University of Alabama Press. Mr. Adelman did not agree with the terms required by the publisher, so his photos do not appear in the book. However, there are historic photos such as this cover by Bill Hudson and internal photos from Wilcox by civil rights photographer Bob Fitch. www.thisbrightlightofours.com
