Some emphasize big splits between the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (SCLC) with its hierarchy headed primarily by black male ministers and the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), the more decentralized youth-led organization. In terms of structure and philosophy, there were many differences.
