Rev. Henry McCaskill (Hale County) and Patt J. Davis (Perry County) hold a copy of the Southern Courier with Bob Fitch photos of the first Black candi- dates for office who ran on the Peoples Choice slate in May 1966. Fitch’s photos of Alabama candidates used on campaign posters and in the Negro press. White owned newspapers did not cover Black candidates.
